A real person reads every message, usually within two business days. If something is broken, tell us what device you're on and what you were doing - it gets us to an answer much faster.
No. Harmi teaches you to read music, and everything happens on your phone. If you do have an instrument, what you learn here transfers straight to it - but nothing requires one.
No. Tell Harmi you're completely new and you go straight into a warmup - no theory, no quiz. The quick placement check only appears if you say you can already read music, and it exists so you can skip the parts you already know rather than sit through them.
Say so during setup and Harmi places you further along. You can also test out of any individual chapter later. Beyond the lessons there are speed drills, ear-training and sight-reading games with personal bests to chase, both treble and bass clef, and material through diminished and augmented chords, inversions and key signatures.
Hearts are your margin for error during lessons. Mistakes cost hearts, and you get a fresh full set every day. They're there to keep practice honest - not to rush you.
You ran out of hearts for today. Three things to know:
Finish a lesson perfectly and you bank a Grace Note, which quietly forgives your next mistake. You can hold up to three at a time.
Shields protect your streak, not your hearts. If you miss a day, a Shield spends itself automatically so your streak survives. You earn them at ten-day streak milestones, or buy them with the Notes you collect as you learn.
It removes the daily heart limit, so you can practice as much as you like without lessons ever pausing. That's what it buys - access, and nothing else. It does not buy hearts, Notes, or any other in-app item, and it doesn't skip you ahead in the curriculum.
Prices are shown in your local currency in the app. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancelling happens in your Apple account rather than in Harmi: open Manage Subscriptions, or on your device go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
Open the subscription screen in the app and tap Restore purchases. That re-checks your Apple account and reinstates access. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID that made the purchase. If it still doesn't appear, email us.
Apple handles all payments and refunds for App Store purchases, so we can't issue one directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something in Harmi went wrong and caused it, tell us as well - we want to know.
No. Harmi works fully without one, and your progress is saved on your device. An account exists so your progress can follow you to another device.
Check your spam folder first - that's nearly always where it is. The link expires after a short while, so request a fresh one if it's been sitting a few hours. If your inbox is a work address, a filter may be holding it. Still nothing? Email us and we'll sort it out.
Signing in with Apple creates its own account, separate from an email account you may already have - especially if you chose Hide My Email, because Apple gives us a private relay address rather than your real one. Your progress isn't lost. Sign out and sign back in with the original method to find it. If you'd like two accounts merged, email us.
In the app: tap the gear icon on the home screen, then Account, then Delete account. It permanently erases your account and the learning data stored with it. It cannot be undone.
If you play without an account, your progress lives on that device and is removed with the app. Making an account before you delete it keeps everything safe and brings it back when you sign in.
Yes - create an account and sign in on each device. Your lessons, XP, streak and rank follow you.
Check that your device isn't on silent, and that the volume is up. On iPhone, the physical mute switch silences app audio. Harmi also waits for your first tap before it plays anything - that's an iPhone rule, not a bug - so if you've just opened the app, tap once and sound should start. Audio can also be switched off in the app's settings.
The content is appropriate for all ages, and children can use Harmi freely without an account - that's the intended path for under-13s, and it collects no personal information about them. Creating an account requires confirming you're 13 or older.
Very little, and never for advertising. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy - the short version is that anonymous play stays on your device, an account stores only your email address and your learning progress, and we don't sell data or use advertising trackers.
Email support@harmiapp.com and tell us what's happening. Include your device and iOS version if it's something broken. We read everything.
